EL TRAUCO: Trauco is a mythical goblin that lives in the woods of Chiloé.

He is said to have a powerful magnetism which attracts young women and that whoever is chosen by him will go to him and fall enraptured at his feet. Also, when a single woman is with child and no one steps forward as the father, people assume Trauco to be the missing parent. This excuses the women from fault, as Trauco is irresistible.

Thus, Trauco is sometimes invoked to explain sudden or unwanted pregnancies, particularly in unmarried young women.

It is also said, that if you look at him straight in the eye, you will become his slave.
